In India’s West Bengal state, Darjeeling is located in the Himalayan foothills. Founded in 1881, the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, or “Toy Train,” is a narrow-gauge railway that once served the British Raj elite. On its surrounding slopes, plantations grow distinctive black tea. Mt. Kanchenjunga, one of the world’s highest peaks, stands as a backdrop. Darjeeling is famous throughout the world for the tea it grows and the great view of the Kanchenjunga range of mountains that it offers. It is also known for its richness in cultural & natural heritage and the famous toy train that has been declared a UN heritage.
